Let’s make it easy. If you go to google.com and type in search for “web templates” and found a website “monstertemplates.com” ranks on the first result. So the website “monstertemplates.com” is the first SERP for keywords “web templates”.
Imagining if your website is one of the high ranking in the SERPs, that you should receive more traffic from search engine from that keywords and if that keyword have a lot of competitor, more difficult you can be the first rank in the SERPs and more traffic you can recieve too.
